Shoreditch Cover
The first Issue was financed by a gift from Alexander Roussos.
Another friend, a graphic design whiz-zard, was going to design
the mag, but had to pull out, leaving me to a steep learning
curve on an extremely basic Apple Mac LC.
Everyone pulled together for this first issue. Contributions
arrived by deadline, (ahem! Andrew Waugh and Sara Featherstone).
Phenomenal
I don't remember why, now, but this issue was printed on inkjet
then pasted up, thanks Jock and Amelia. It was then transposed
to film and printed on some very economic, yellowish,
paper stock, by our dear drinking chums at NNC on Curtain Road. |

Factual Nonsense
Mission Statement
Joshua Compston's lasting contribution to the magazine was it's
title, we had a big meeting at 18 Charlotte Road. Loads of
people, lots of brainstorming, lots of ideas for a title, none
of them quite hitting the spot...
After a pause, where many ran fingers through hair or stroked
chins, Joshua said, "The Ditch", and it was that easy...
This FN page was his one published contribution, as it was 18
months before I pulled together a second issue, by which time I
was gathering obituaries...
